Shawn Trained in graphic arts, illustration and animation, Shawn made the transition to tattooing approximately 5 years ago. During a series of sessions involving his personal tattoo work, his tattoo guy became curiosly interested in the sketches and artwork that was brought to him as reference. Shawn was offered an apprenticeship with Ninpinin Tattoo in Quesnel and spent the better part of a year cleaning toilets and answering phones. When he was deemed worthy, Shawn was granted the chance to swing a machine around and mark his own body and a few friends as guinea pigs as practice for the serious work to come. As he slowly gained skill in the art of tattoo, the shop owner departed and left the business in his hands. A long winter ensued, and survival became a factor for Shawn, being relatively unknown in the trade. Nearing the end of that winter Shawn deciced to take an offer to work in Prince George and hone his skills amongst other artists, working out of the Happy Monkey Tattoo was an auspicious move and a return to the familiar surroundings of his birthplace. After two and a half years working with monkeys, flinging feces and chewing on bananas, Shawn decided to invest some faith in a few friendships he'd made in the industry and answer the internal call to the island. The enthusiasm and desire to achieve has rewarded him with an active environment that supports and allows progress to work in miracles everyday. There remains an inherent positivity and vitality in each day at Transformations, a strong team ethic and a close bond that carries us all into future good works.
