Bronwen:

My interesting in body piercing began at a very early age. At the age of 10 I discovered a website called Body Modification Ezine which has a huge amount of pictures and experience reports about every body modification procedure under the sun. Needless to say I was instantly interested in all the weird and wonderful ways that piercings can change the way that people feel about themselves for the better. I was hooked.  So I waltzed down to my local piercing shop called Tranceformations and requested a navel piercing. I was informed that they wouldn’t pierce me until I was fourteen. Slightly disappointed but not discouraged I got a few piercings in my ears and by the age of sixteen I had my conch’s dermal punched (the act of taking a core of tissue/cartiledge out permanently so as to get larger jewelry into a hole instantly).

When I turned eighteen I was interested in getting an apprenticeship at Tranceformations and when I called Darren Rinaldi, the owner of the shop, I was hired instantly. Getting to work in a shop with such dedicated piercers has and will continue to help me perfect my own skills as a piercer. So now, after working as the counter girl for almost 2 years I was offered an apprenticeship. I recently went to Las Vegas for the Association of Professional Piercers convention where I attended all sorts of classes from aseptic techniques to facial/oral anatomy. It was an excellent experience and a great opportunity to connect with some of the most amazing and influential piercers from all over North America and the world.

Getting to work in such a great environment with a bunch of enthusiastic people makes going to work not seem like work. I love the fact that people come into the shop on a search for something that will beautify or strengthen them, and that I am able to help them do that.
